Katy Texas – The Best Place To Bring Up Your Family

Are you thinking of moving to Katy Texas? Need a little more information upon which to base your final decision? We might be a little biased because personally we think that Moving To Katy TX is the best place on the planet to live.

We decided to put together an informative and educational resource all about our wonderful city, and we just hope that it answers many of the questions you might have.

Moving To Katy TX

The History Of Katy

According to historical records the first evidence of Moving To Katy TX was when the town was laid out in 1895.

katy grew over time and was designated as a city in 1945. Katy has always had a reputation as a family community, although it has also specialized in rice farming and it is famous for being home to one of the largest gas fields in Texas.

The name Katy was derived from the MKT Railroad, which was known as “The KT – or Katy” by the railroad staff.

The Economy of Katy

At one stage in its history Katy was perhaps overly dependent on the oil industry. In recent years however it has diversified its economy and is now well positioned to grow and expand in future years.

Thinking of moving to Katy TX for economic reasons then your timing is perfect. The population of Katy has grown drastically in recent years, and although the census doesn’t reflect this – I’m sure that currently the population stands close to 750,000.

Educational Establishments

Having children of a school age then Moving To Katy TX will provide them with an excellent education.

The Houston area Katy Independent School District has an excellent reputation for both first class facilities, and excellent results year after year.

Katy teaching methods are innovative and conducive to learning, I have every confidence that your children will flourish and benefit from being educated in Katy.

High school Katy football team, the Katy Tigers have multiple state and National winning football teams – Rhodes stadium is ‘the place’ for Friday night-lights.  Cinco Ranch high school has some of the best student average grades in the country – and of course Texas is blessed with some great College campuses.

Most notably, UT, the Texas Longhorns.  The University of Houston is just down the road and offers a first class campus and many programs.  There’s a lot more – as well that other campus! (You know the maroon guys – Texas A&M)

Housing in Katy

Katy residents are truly blessed with a wide variety of homes that are suitable for any budget. Whether you want a mansion, or require a starter home, Katy will have the perfect property for you.

Amenities include old homes with character, and new modern homes, meaning that the biggest challenge about moving to Katy TX may be deciding which is the house of your dreams – you are literally spoilt for choice.

Culinary Delights

Everyone loves to dine out, whether for business or pleasure, and Katy can accommodate virtually any palate with its wide range of award winning restaurants.

As would be expected in Texas there are many traditional Texan BBQ style restaurants, but there are also numerous specialty ethnic venues for the more adventurous, or those that simply want to try something new or fancy some variety.

Fantastic Shopping Facilities

No matter your shopping tastes or passions, Moving To Katy TX has you covered. We have some of the best shopping centers in the United States. The Katy Mills Mall will be perfect for most people, but if you feel like really treating yourself, or for that matter being treated you could visit Lacenterra in Cinco Ranch.

Whatever you need whether it be clothing, electrical or antique Katy has it all for you in easy reach.

Golf and Other Leisure Opportunities

Even the workaholics amongst us need some downtime, and once again Katy excels in this area. With some of the most amazing golf courses, sporting facilities, spas and beauty salons in the world, you can find plenty of opportunities to relax, pamper and enjoy yourself.

People travel many miles to experience some of our golf courses in particular and along with the wonderful climate, you won’t need any excuse to get out on the courses to improve your swing.

Places To Visit In Katy Texas

It would be remiss of me not to highlight some of the exceptional sights and sounds of Katy, which perhaps only a local can properly evaluate. As a proud resident of Katy, I regularly visit the majority of the places mentioned below, and in my opinion they are all worth visiting.

KCAM Contemporary Art Museum Fort Bend

Now I want to be truthful here – I normally have never expected to put an art museum at the top of my recommendations but this one has to be experienced, to fully understand the marvelous exhibits, partnered with the knowledgeable and helpful staff.

Education – I learned more about art in one day than I have over the previous thirty-five years of my life. If you are Moving To Katy TX passionate about art, or even if you just want to see some marvelous exhibits this museum has to be at the top of you to do list.

Typhoon Texas

Typhoon Texas is great if water parks floats your boat, then the Typhoon Texas Park will be right up your street. It is a new attraction, which means everything is immaculate modern and exciting.

Just be careful as the only real complaint I could make is to not be careful not to get sunburned in the Katy TX sun. I was so busy enjoying the rides and the whole experience that I didn’t realize how much sun I had been exposed to until I was lying down at the end of the day with a tender lobster red back!

The No Label Brewing Company

I saved my favorite recommendation for last. This company simply sums up Katy, its enthusiasm, bravery and optimism.

This company is a family based business setup by people who wanted to open their own brewery, but had no real experience in how to go about it. Undeterred they powered forward and the brewery is now one of the best-known companies in the region. You can book a tour, take the kids and have a fantastic fun filled experience.

Hopefully this quick introduction will help to convince you that moving to Katy is an excellent idea. With a booming, diverse economy, fantastic housing options, and a first class education system, Katy is destined to continue growing and expanding rapidly.

With friendly southern hospitality, an amazing climate, and varied and exciting leisure facilities Katy is a dynamic, exciting place to bring up a family. We look forward to welcoming you as our newest family.
